WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) and COVID-19
Effective water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) systems are required to protect populations from the spread of Covid-19. But, the large financial impacts the pandemic has had on providers can make it hard to deliver basic services and expand access to safe and reliable water and sanitation sources. Utilities must work hard to ensure the rapid delivery of affordable WASH resources to healthcare facilities, food businesses and other high contact commercial enterprises, and residential areas, especially in poor and urban areas. Strong water and sanitation systems can help communities overcome Covid-19 by stopping the spread of the disease and mitigating the harmful social and economic effects that come with the pandemic.
