Mexico's accession to the GATT brings new opportunities to several industrial segments of its economy including fishing. Mexico's limited seafood imports are for fishmeal and a few high value fish. This report aims to assess the impacts of GATT on Mexico's fishing sector. This is undertaken by examining the commercial driving forces behind import and export trends as well as tariff structures.
