Between May 17 through May 24,1992, members of the New York City Department of Sanitation (DOS) visited the city of Sofia, Bulgaria, on an activity sponsored by the World Environment Center. The purpose of the trip was to assess and make recommendations for improvements on the municipal solid waste facilities and management practices in Sophia.
