The purpose of the Lima Workshop sponsored by UNICEF and PAHO is to define UNICEF's activities during the International Decade on Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation. The interest is in small villages, semi-dispersed areas, and urban slum areas. Their methodology lays heavy emphasis on health education, people participation, and community development. The intent is that drinking water and basic sanitation projects are part of social improvement.
