Summary Report of the Asian Regional Workshop on Carp Hatchery and Nursery Technology
Six countries - Bangladesh, Burma, Indonesia, Nepal, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka - participated in the research phase of an Asian Development Bank project to improve technology and training in carp hatchery and nursery systems. This two-part summary of a March 1984 workshop attended by hatchery personnel from these six countries and from seven other interested countries - India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam - presents the state of carp hatchery and nursery technology in developing countries of Asia. The report's first part summarizes the content of workshop sessions, and covers: remarks of the project's two technical consultants, participant countries' presentations of research findings, reports from the other countries, workshop discussions on controlled breeding and post larval and fry rearing, and recommendations for further research and related needs. The second section consists of abstracts of the workshops' 15 presentations, the first 8 of which concern project research in the participating countries.
