Pollution Is a Racial Justice Issue. Let’s Fight it that Way.
Communities of color and marginalized groups around the world feel the effects of racism through environmental injustice. Whether they are in the United States, Mexico, Thailand, or anywhere else in the world, marginalized peoples must continually fight against the oppressive systems that pollute water resources, destroy air quality, and do irreparable damage to human health. The struggle against environmental oppression is a global one; this means that policymakers must implement international solutions that take into account the attitudes and previous work of activists from marginalized backgrounds. All systems of oppression must be eliminated in cooperation with those most hurt in order for true environmental justice to take hold.
