Subproject of the U.S.-Omani Joint Commission Project, to develop an institutional capacity within the Omani Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MOAF) and within Oman's private sector to manage and utilize marine resources. The subproject, follow-on to an earlier fisheries sector effort, will provide long-term advisors to MOAF and to the private sector to help coordinate programs in, inter alia, marketing, harbor development, statistics, sea turtle protection, extension, stock assessments, research, and development of a public aquarium and marine science library. The subproject will also finance some 1,000 person-months of short-term training for over 200 Omanis, as well as 24 graduate degrees in academic fields. (Abstract based on PID.).
