Final Report: Water Yards for Potable Water and Livestock in Central Region, Somalia
Presents final report by Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) on a project (4/93-12/93) to rehabilitate water sources in nine villages in Adale District in Somalia's Central Region. Because of civil strife, wells and water yards in the district had deteriorated, water-borne diseases affected much of the population, and some emergency feeding stations had closed due to lack of water for cooking. to provide clean water for family use and separate facilities for livestock at nine major public sites, ADRA had to rehabilitate shallow wells, hand-dug wells, boreholes, and water yards. On four sites, new boreholes had to be drilled. The project served some 30,000 residents as well as a large number of nomads.
