This report looks at the development of irrigated agriculture in Senegal. At the Third Conference of the Club du Sahel in Amsterdam in November 1978, the meeting recalled that the main objective of the development strategy of the Sahel is an increase in crop production. In the 1979 Work Program, therefore, a dominant role is assigned to first generation rain fed and irrigated farming projects. The meeting has especially stressed the need to prepare a second generation program of irrigated farming projects during 1979.
