Annual Technical Report: Improving Irrigation Water Management on Farms, April 1, 1979 to May 31, 1980
Inadequate water is the primary constraint on agricultural production in a large portion of the developing countries. The technology for using available water supplies most efficiently is either lacking or not adapted to the available resources, in many of these countries. Recognizing that these water management problems were common to many countries, it was apparent that solutions gained in one country should be, to some degree, transferable to others. The present contract focuses upon: (1) continuing the on-farm water management research program in Pakistan, (2) developing the transfer process that can be utilized by other countries for improving their on-farm irrigation water management practices, and (3) providing limited technical assistance to AID Missions for initiating on-farm water management programs.
