Grant is provided under the regional Intercountry Technology Transfer project to Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Guaymas campus, to promote the wide- scale adoption of turtle excluder devices (TED's) throughout the Mexican shrimp fishing industry. Without the TED's, which allow sea turtles caught in shrimp trawls to escape, the Mexican shrimp industry faces possible U.S. embargoes. The grant specifically funds training in use of the TED's, follow-up troubleshooting TA, and applied research/assessment.
