This paper examines social and economic issues pertaining to the micro-irrigation technology based livelihoods of smallholder farmers in villages of Nepal and India. The paper concludes that in order to achieve the policy goals of poverty reduction, smallholder should be provided with opportunities to adopt appropriate technology for sustained income generation.
