Water Resources Survey - Progress Report
EVALUATES USAID ASSISTANCE TO THE GOVT OF THE PHILIPPINES FROM 7/1/67-12/31/67 TO UNDERTAKE SURVEYS AND STUDIES PREPARATORY TO THE FORMULATION OF COMPREHENSIVE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS FOR THE NATION'S SEVEN MAJOR RIVER BASINS. ALL INVESTIGATIONS OF THE SEVEN RIVER BASINS UNDERTAKEN IN THE INITIAL PHASE OF THE PROJECT HAVE NOW BEEN COMPLETED -- INCLUDING THE PUBLICATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF PROGRAM-TYPE REPORTS FOR THE CAGAYAN, BICOL AND THE ILOG-HILABANGAN BASINS. THE FEASIBILITY REPORT ON THE UPPER PAMPANGA RIVER PROJECT WAS COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED TO THE GOP FOR CONSIDERATION. THE CENTRAL LUZON BASIN REPORT (PAMPANGA AND AGNO RIVER BASINS) WHICH PRESENTS A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR MULTI-PURPOSE WATER RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT WAS DISTRIBUTED IN LATE 1967. AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHIC MOSAIC MAPS FOR ALL WATERSHED AREAS WERE ACCEPTED BY THE CLOSE OF 1967. TOPGRAPHIC MAPS FOR ALL 10 RESERVOIR SITES IN THE CENTRAL LUZON BASIN WERE CHECKED AND ACCEPTED BY 11/22/67. ON THE BASIS OF FINDINGS IN THE CENTRAL LUZON BASIN REPORT,THE BALOG-BALOG AND THE BALINTINGON PROJECTS WERE SELECTED FOR DETAILED EXAMINATION TO DETERMINE ECONOMIC AND ENGINEERING FEASIBILITY. WATER SUPPLY AND DESIGN FLOOD STUDIES WERE CONTINUED ON THE BALOG-BALOG PROJECT. ALSO AN EXAMINATION OF WATER USE AND WATER RIGHTS WAS BEGUN FOR THE BULSA (TARLAC) RIVER-SINCE IT WILL HAVE A BEARING ON THE PROJECT WATER SUPPLY.
