USAID assistance in Northeast Brazil began in 1964 with a team of five PASA technicians which surveyed at the request of SUDENE. USAID has been providing technical assistance in Fish Technology and Fish Biology. PASA assistance is terminating but contractor assistance is to continue for two more years.
