Project Grant Agreement: Strengthening Water Management Project Activities
Project to grant the Government of Pakistan 18.5 million Pakistani Rupees (called Mondale rupees) to strengthen water management activities begun under the loan- and dollar-funded On Farm Water Management (OFWM) Project (3910413), which is scheduled to terminate in 12/80. The largest portion of the rupee grant will be used for a 5-year program to monitor and evaluate the OFWM project or a successor activity. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Cooperatives will contract an outside agency to carry out this program, which will assess, inter alia: the OFWM project's watercourse improvements, training programs, and precision land leveling efforts. Particular attention will be given to the project's sociological and economic impacts on small and medium farmers. The rupee grant will also be used to: (1) cover the local currency costs of short-term participant training for 13 planners and executives and 12 OFWM field workers; (2) disseminate information to farmers via bulletins, leaflets, posters, the mass media, films, field days, farmer exchanges, and workshops/seminars; and (3) finance an administrative support staff composed of a senior social scientist, two researchers, a supervisor, two assistants, a stenotypist, two land development officers, and soil conservation service advisors to the OFWM project.
