Hydropneumatic Pump System Development
The hydro pneumatic pump is a simple means for lifting water from a stream for long unattended periods. Lice the hydraulic ram, it uses the potential energy of a flow drawn from a stream at a given elevation and discharged at a lower elevation, to pump a smaller flow to an elevation greater than the intake elevation. The hydro pneumatic pump operates cyclically; its operating principles are based on hydrostatics. It can be fabricated almost entirely out of common available materials. it is self-priming. Up to its hydraulic capacity, determined chiefly by the size of the piping, the pump will accept whatever flow is delivered to it. Aside from armatures of two check valves, there are no moving parts. Because pumping energy is derived from the water source, there is no need for electricity or fuel. Drawbacks exist as well.
