Funding Requirements for Adequate Irrigation System Operation and Maintenance - Pakistan
A consulting team visited Pakistan in 4/84 to review provincial funding levels for irrigation system operation and maintenance (O&M) and to propose new O&M funding targets as dictated by an expanded maintenance program and by changes in Provincial Irrigation Department (PID) staffing and equipment. This team report is divided into seven sections: one on general background (historical, organizational, operational); one on the methods and terminology used by the team; a separate chapter on each of Pakistan's four provinces, covering irrigation facilities, organization and staffing, funding for O&M, the costs of irrigation services, O&M funding targets, provincial budget allocations, and cost recovery; and a final section in which new funding targets are outlined for each province and conclusions and recommendations are presented.
