Final Report -- Assessment of the Institutional Environment of the Environmental Infrastructure Unit: Recommendations for Operational Guidelines, Staffing, and Technical Assistance and Training
USAID's Mission to Sri Lanka began implementing the Promotion of Private Infrastructure (PPI) Project in 1992. The PPI Project will provide U.S. $8 million in grant funds over a four0year period to assist the GSL in developing a market to attract private financing, construction, and management for potable water supplies, wastewater treatment facilities, roads and transportation, power plants, and other infrastructure facilities through Build-Own-Operate (BOO), Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT), and similar undertakings. The GSL has demonstrated its interest in and commitment to private provision of infrastructure through BOO/BOT and other join-sector variants. The PPI Project funds technical assistance, training, and feasibility studies in support of four project components: private infrastructure networking, public awareness, marketing, and private-sector financing window.
