Detailed report of how Swaziland and Lesotho have dealt with serious water shortages which were the result of intensive agricultural practices and livestock overgrazing. The USAID Famine Early Warning Systems Network identifies higher than average food prices which reflect potential household food security vulnerability. USAID/OFDA DRR programming aims to reduce the impact of recurrent drought on vulnerable populations through mitigation interventions, including income generation and livelihood diversification, to improve household resiliency and increase food security.
